Another real life example
Sep 7 2007, 4:19 PM EDT I also know of a real life example. My friend has a relative who died by smothering the blast of a grenade, and by doing so, saved everyone else around him. He was a soldier in the US Army in Iraq. He was 19 years old. I have nothing against the Mythbusters; I think they're awesome. But I think they should have done more research before taking on this myth. 11 out of 12 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Another real life example
Sep 7 2007, 5:41 PM EDT I'm sure they were aware of this beforehand. However, watching them Google a myth isn't nearly as good as watching them blow stuff up, is it? ;) Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Another real life example - he LIVED!
Nov 26 2007, 10:29 AM EST My english teacher in high school in the 70's LIVED to tell the tale. he was stationed in the Pacitic in WWII. Wearing a flak jacket, he jumped on a hand grenade, covering it with his helmet. The grenade blew up, and he sustained injuries to his abdomen, and lived. Surgeons put him back together again. He recieved a Medal of Honor for his heroism. He also had permanent hiccups from the nerve damage! - to our delight in class. He was an assistant swim coach and proudly showed his scars. Myth - CONFIMRED!! Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Another real life example - he LIVED!
Nov 27 2007, 10:21 AM EST I know that this is a touchy subject for a lot of people and where they showed that you can survive a grenade blast is completely confrimed. Too many people have survived. It mainly depends on your equipment, personal safety equipment, type of grenade and anything else that you may have around like a helmet or another flack jacket that you might think of to throw on it. Cudos to all those that have done just that and survived and to those that did not! You have my complete respect! Do you find this valuable? |
