most home toilets have lids, and theirs did not, so their result is inconclusive at best, wrong most likely. 2  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

Yes, but do most homeowners keep their lids closed at all times? I know we don't and I haven't met many men capable of closing a toilet. ;)

Also, it is likely that the fecal matter spreads throughout the room through other means than becoming airborne. (i.e., it's on your hands, feet, etc.)

Okay, this reminds me to go take a scalding hot shower...

I read in a book once, that when a toilet flushes, tiny little droplets of bacteria & virus-born water fly up into the air and float around. If you close the lid before you flush, then they'll still fly up, but the won't exit the bowl until you open the lid again. I don't know how long it takes the droplets to settle though. Do you find this valuable?
