I saw a video done by the militay, fireing at ship sides at the naval museume and it showed how the splinters killed the crew of the ship. Post reply 3 out of 4 found this valuable. A sloop would carry 14 pounders. A frigate would have 24-36 pounders. It's a simple historical fact that giant splinters slaughtered and maimed a lot of seamen during the sailing age.
