Premonition Myth
Feb 3 2008, 10:59 PM EST
Hey guys:
i was just wondering if you could try to crack this myth. In the movie, Premonition, an 8 or 10 year old girl is running from outside to go to her mom. while she is running her mom is telling her to stop and slow down...but instead she runs through a glass slideing door...i just wanted to know if that could really happen...plus she had scars all over her face after if happened...i also want to know if it does actually leave the scars.

Thanks!!!=]

Not running. But I do remember accidentally testing that myth myself years ago. Was walking outside to outdoor shower one summer day. Didn't have myth glasses on so it was hard for me to tell whether door was openof closed, I'm very near sighted. Ran right into door. Hurt like hell! Didn't break! 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Glass is a very unpredictable substance. In my chemistry class a little while ago I hit this pane of glass with 5 pounds of force, 10 times, and got nothing. Then I dereased the force to 2.5 pounds, hit it once, and it shattered. Do you find this valuable?

"Glass is a very unpredictable substance. In my chemistry class a little while ago I hit this pane of glass with 5 pounds of force, 10 times, and got nothing. Then I dereased the force to 2.5 pounds, hit it once, and it shattered."
That actually might be easily explained. The size of the object determines how much force is concentrated at impact. The 5 lbs weight might have had a large enough distribution to diffuse the energy of impact whereas the 2.5 lbs. weight concentrated the force on a small enough area. However, upon re-reading your post it seems you may have been using the same object to strike the same pane & were only varying the thrust. If that is the case I suspect tiny fractures were accumulating in the glass and the lower force impact just completed the process.
