  • Airline Toilet Myth Wasn't Kari the model for the fat lady's butt in the Myth about the lady getting stuck on the airline toilet? I think they used hers for the basis and then expanded and enhanced to make it more realistic on a computer before carving the mold for the bullistics gel. If that's true, then wouldn't her first appearance be in one of the first few shows in season 1 instead of episode 18?

  • bad test I AM a surfer, and i can agree with everyone else here. if you look at the video, he only has about three sticks of dynamite. there are three main kinds of waves-point break, shore break, and reef break. this would be a shore break, which means that the bottom of the body of water has to rise as the wave progresses. when a tsunami is made from an earthquake, the shock wave starts at the bottom, then osculates between the surface and bottom. this wave has a certain amount of energy, so as the bottom rises the wave gets bigger because that energy brings the water up above the surface. mb needs to find a place that has as good bottom for surfing, and place the charge in the appropriate place.

  • Can a bullet on a train track fire? One time my family and I were on a trip. We walked by a train track and put some coins on it to smash. I wondered what would happen if you put a bullet on the track and let the train run over it.

  • Can a model rocket break the sound barrier? Back in the early 1970's I finally got shore duty a NAF Mt Clemems, Mich. The NAF was located on the old Selfridge AFB.At he time I lived at the BEQ (Bacholor's Enlisted Quarters). For fun a few of us would get together to build model rockets and launch them out back of the BEQ. Many of our rockets got lost in the woods or ended up in lake ST Claire. Some of the rockets we launched on a final voyage was at night with a payload of shreadded aluminum foil so when the parachute burst would go off instead of deploying a parachute it would release a cloud of aluminum confetti. The Airforce Reservists would think a UFO had entered their airspace.
My friends and I heard if one built a model rocket out of the right material and with enough power in theory ot should break the sound barrier. There was either an Estes plant or Centurian plant nearby the base and the different rocket motors were cheap. On our duty days we would use some of the lightest and strongest materials we could get our hands on and build model rockets for testing. for the most part we would build 3 stage rockets and to ensure a perfect ignition between stages we would put a little 3F gunpwder on top of each engine so a bigger flame would ignite the next stage of the rocket.for the most part our rockets were sucessful but when it came close to break the sound barrier our rockets would come back crumpled or distorted by the time the larger D and E sizes came out I was transferred back to sea again. I woul like to find out if a model rocket could break the sound barrier and come back without being destroyed in the process.

  • Depths of the lake they surfed in the video Hi,
I live in Copenhagen where the viral video is from.

I can tell - they never surfed that lake - it is fake.

But, the depth of that lake is only about 280 centimeters - a lot different than the quarry lake that MB did the test in.
http://www.vejpark2.kk.dk/publikationer/pdf/443_Beskyttede%20Natur.pdf (Danish documentation of the lakes).

So - yes- MB should revisted, using a proper low-depth lake instead of a quarry.

  • Exploding empty soda can I did not intend to explode an empty soda can, It came about accidentality.I was in the process of restoring an old wooden boat and was steaming new ribs for it. I made a steam tube by welding one end of a 6 inch piece of well casing and propping it up at a 45 degree angle with the welded end set in the middle of a salvaged truck rim to contain the coals. The rim and tube was set on cement blocks so I could get a draft underneath the rim.. The tube was welded in place with a piece of re-bar holding up the front end. For heat I used coal and to get the coal really hot I used an old vacume cleaner on the exaust end to fan the coals. I would then pour a bucket of water into the tube, place the rib stock into the tube, turn on the vacume cleaner and boil the rib stock until it was plyable enough to bend easily.
It was hot on the afternoon when I was working on my boat as to quench my thirst I quickly downed a cold diet soda. Without really thinking about the outcome, I wondered how long it woud take to melt an empty soda can. I forgot I had the vacume cleaner running. The coals were just about turning to a white hot color. the soda can melted instantly.
I walked away and got about 10 maybe 12 feet away from the fire. The next thing I knew,I heard a loud wooooomph, my back got very warm, some hairs on the back of my head got a little singed, and the sky turned into a brilliant bluish white. It nearly blinded me. The can melted ,turned into a gas and then exploded.I believe it had the power of a1/4 stick of dynamite going off. Really don't try this at home .

  • Firecraker Christmas Tree! One lovely creative lady wanted to add reflectors to her tree lights. She poked a hole through a chicken pot pie pan with a kitchen knife, force- threaded male fitted end of bulb through the hole in the pan, then inserted it into the female end of the socket. She completely covered the whole tree with her new creation of Christmas tree light reflectors. You will need:

    1. 75-100 aluminum chicken pot pies pans
    2. 8 ft Douglas Fir Christmas tree(Partially dried out)
    3. 1950's C-9 Chriatmas lights, 10-15 sets each with 14 lights (remember, non-fused in the 1950's, also lightswere not polarized-1 prong not larger than the other)
    4. 1950' fuse box with pennies behined fuses, as thay did in those days
    5. 1 kitchen case knife
    6. 4 pacages of aluminum ioose tinfoil icicles
    7. 3 hours to be creative
    8. 1 gallon of extra spiked eggnog (Savannah, Chatham County Artillery Punch-Christmas version)
    9. 3 dozen homemade rum-balls

After decorating, flip the wall switch and run like hell! This gives a whole new meaning to Christmas in July!
This is s true story and according to the eyewitness the Christmas tree really did 'go up like fireworks on the 4 th of July'. This would be a graet myth to test for Christmas or July! This myth is simple but elegant; it would be a dynamite myth to bust or confirm.

i am in process of building 1 it is a revolution model super sized with 50 ft lines has 2 handles and 4 lines 2 lines per handle for top and bottom. i have tried pvc for my leading edge but it failed yes it took air but not for long it soon crashed and shattered the pvc in only 10 mph winds......
for your own visual records (case you dont already have an idea) check out on youtube and search pages for revolution kites they are fully control able at standard size if i get air can i still keep control
i am extreamly concerned about my own safty on this account of stupidity but hey wheres the fun in quiting right.

  • Getting sucked into the baggage compartment on a Boeing 707 Being older than dirt. some people said I invented dirt, anyway, when I was in Junior High school my old math teacher told of a tale about a woman who boarded a Boeing 707 wearing spiked heeled shoes. After the plane took off and when people were alowed to walk about the cabin she got out of her seat to use the restroom. As she was walking down the isle her spiked heel punchurd through the deck as the deck plate was made out of aluminum and the cabin was presurized. She got sucked through the deck and ended into the baggage compartment which was not presurized..He went on with the approximate weight of the woman and the area of the spiked heel . I forget the formula but the equivalent force on the bottom of the heel was well over 1000 pounds.Boeing went to a thicker deck plate after the incident.. I do not know if this was true but it would be interesting to find out how much force it would take to penertrate an aluminum deck plate that was in use on the early 707's with a spiked heel.
