  • This myth was not correctly done. The aircraft chosen was of limited capabilities. The bambi bucket used was smaller in comparison to other potential options.


  • Using such aircraft as a UH-60 Blackhawk which can carry much more weight than the UH-1 Huey used in the program alone has the potential to show this myth of being correct. The typical bambi bucket used carries up to 660 gallons of water which is approximately 5400 thousand pounds of water. This bucket most definitly can pick up a scuba diver swimming along

  • I am a former member of a Sheriff's Department Underwater Search and Recovery Team and I have worked a forest fire as a SCUBA diver. We were deployed in an inland lake being used for dipping buckets. Our mission was to recover lost buckets and cabling. While divers are actually in close proximity to these buckets, a missing diver would be noticed. Also, the buckets I handled were collapsable, only open during a lift, and cabling would interfere with getting inside.
