Propane Tank Nailgun

Name of Myth: Propane tank nailgun

History/Background of the Myth: I personally have heard this story a few times.....There is the roofer whom is in a terrible hurry to finish because a storm is coming and the power goes out including his nailgun compressor so he desperately takes the customers grill propane tank and plugs the nailgun hose into it without the regulator, hoping the pressurized propane would operate his nailgun like it was air, and when he pulls the trigger-------------BUSTER!

Hypothesis of the Test: If you connect a air gun to a propane tank, it will explode.

Ideal MythBuster(s) to Conduct the Test:
Adam and Jaime always do this stuff with Frank Doyle out at the FBI bomb range.

Best Method to Conduct the Test: Well, make a adapter that plugs a nailgun into a propane tank, you could try it with and without a pressure regulator. Then rig buster to hold the nailgun and have some kind of remote trigger to send buster seaworthy!

My Prediction: I think it will be busted. You may however be burned severely or the line could explode emptying the tank and then the tank would explode when the right stoichiometric mixture of propane and air are inside when a spark is present.........I would not wanna be at the buisiness end of that gun!
