tacticus Tip on where to find evidence to make it plausible, 1 Apr 23 2008, 10:00 PM EDT by amy_c

Back in 1993 I was is lvbtn, BrigN, Rusta leir, Bardufoss, Norway. On a wall, in the officers office, was the pictures of a AG3 (AKA G3A3) with a nice double blossomed barrel.
The story behind it:
A private took his rifle, chambered a blank round, poured the propellant from another 2 or 3 blanks through the muzzle, into the barrel, and jammed a final blank into the muzzle. When he pulled the trigger he got a nice blast, taking one hand, and giving him some nice burns for his trouble.

I just finished watching this episode and one question I had was whether or not the spiraling groove inside the barrel would have had an effect on the results of this myth. Because when the finger was stuck in the barrel that fractional sized groove would have still created an air leak around the finger, would it not? The reason i am questioning is because I know the groove to create the spiral is a pretty recent thing in gun technology and Elmer Fudd is a pretty old based cartoon.
