I think the myth should be revisited because they didn't show the speed which would peel the skin off, but what target would peel the skin off at that speed. At the slower speeds they didn't shoot as hard of a target. I would try it again at slower speeds into the hard target and then see what speed rips it off. Alternatively they could try hitting different types of targets and seeing which kind peel the hide better. In any case they get to shoot things which is always great.

Having seen this episode before, when it was rerun I thought I heard something I missed before. When they are setting up the experiment Tori says he wants to test the headfirst slide also. I must have missed seeing him doing it twice. Did someone see him do it and what was the timing of the result. I see in this wiki that there is a picture of him doing such a slide. Also as has been said elsewhere I would like to see the timing for a straight run over 1st base, where you don't need to stop, and compare that time with the others.

hey Jamie and Adam sorry to tell ya that you blew another one. You both said it was impossible to pitch a ball and make it curve upwards.
When I was in high school I knew a guy that could throw a ball and make it curve upwards. After leaving the pitchers hand the ball would curve upwards and before reaching the plate suddenly drop. It was not a very fast pitch and it was hard on the throwers arm. I have been on the sidelines and watched it with my own two eyes. I have been at bat when he has thrown it, it was truely amazing to see and hard as hell to hit when you did not know it could even happen. I forget what he called the pitch, it was 20 something years ago. Even after all this time I only know of 2 people that have ever thrown that pitch. the guy I am talking about and one other guy he taught, and that would be me. I was far from a pitcher could barely hit the broadside of a barn. I could not do it everytime I tried, but I was able to accomplish it many times. I believe the guy that taught me died many years back. Hate to bust your bust but I did. By the way Kari your lookin hot, somethin about a chick that likes to blow things up. I'm a blaster too |

I have a brother who played baseball most of his life, until he graduated from college. He now coaches. He told me that the way to cork a bat, is to hollow it out, fill it with sand, and then put a cork in the top.

Ripping the hid off doesn't usually happen on long balls hit out of the park from what ive seen. If the bat hits the bit off-center in the right spot the stitches can be torn and thus creating the same effect. Also hitting the ball off the end of the bat where there is an edge of sorts can do the same thing, simply by tearing the stitches
