The main reason for the busting of this myth is because everything inside would be destroyed. However I recently watched the movie, The Score, that the mythbusters based this myth on, and the scepter and cash were not just laying in the bottom of the safe. When the safe was opened in the movie there was a system of protective drawers in the bottom, which all of the goods were in. This would have kept them from being incinerated by the blowtorch. The mythbusters got it wrong.
