Can cars fly??

Name of Myth: Flying car

History/Background of the Myth: I don't think there is a real history behind it. I haven't done any research on it. It was just a thought while watching a show. If you could attach wings to a regular street car, would it fly? Or at least leave the ground at all?

Hypothesis of the Test: Using the general physics of flying, the right speed and wind, SHOULD lift the car up at least a little if driven correctly.

Ideal MythBuster(s) to Conduct the Test:
Grant, Jamie, Tory , and Adam

Best Method to Conduct the Test:
Model first, then life size testing

My Prediction: Busted/Confirmed/Plausible (choose one) plausible, i think.

It would work for a minute if the wings were big enough and the car achieved the right speed, but once the car left the ground, there would need to be another source of thrust to keep it in the air. Otherwise, it would just bounce up and down on the ground. Also, the steering wheel won't help once you get airborne - even if it's tilt/telescoping. Pray you come down as straight as you take off.

So lets see: You need a thruster to keep you airborne, ailerons and flaps to steer... hell, after you do all those modifications, you would have a ... well... plane. And we already know that planes can fly, so... maybe we should let this one go. Too dangerous.
Do you find this valuable?
