I have always liked a combination of science and art, which I probably why I like MythBusters so much. I have college degrees in art education and sculpture, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics. I've worked for professional artists including a flameworker (glass artist), a ceramist/mosaic artist, and a leathersmith. I work for a large performing arts summer camp in the visual arts department, and have a lot of fun making props for some of their musicals. For my own artwork, I prefer working with a combination of clay, glass, and metal. Someone once asked me why I don't sculpt with wood, and I replied, "Because I need fire to make sculptures with clay, glass, and metal." I usually finish my ceramic pieces using a Raku firing technique, which involves heating them to 1000 degrees C (1834 degrees F), then throwing them in a metal trash can filled with combustible materials. I love watching fire in a controlled situation. That's probably another reason I enjoy MythBusters. In addition to making artwork and teaching, I enjoy travel, photography, movies, books, music, hiking, camping, and foreign languages. The two I've studied are Spanish and Czech, though I can't claim to be fluent in either. I can get by just fine as a tourist, though.
